On June 7, 2021, the top international journal in the field of materials "Advanced Functional Materials", titled "Multifunctional Modification of SIS Membranes with Chimeric Peptides to Promote Its Antibacterial, Osteogenic, and Healing-Promoting Abilities for Applying to GBR", published the full text in Biosis Healing’s independent intellectual property research results in the field of SIS biomaterials, the journal's impact factor is as high as 16.8!

This research was completed by the team of Professor Zhao Bo, Dr. Wei Pengfei from Biosis Healing, and the team of Professor Deng Jiayin and Dr. Liu Zihao from Tianjin Medical University School of Stomatology.

This research focuses on the application of SIS biomaterials with independent intellectual property rights in the dental field as the main direction of exploration. Today, when oral health is getting more and more attention, tooth restoration technology is also constantly improving. As a new type of missing tooth restoration technology, dental implants have become people's first choice for restoration. However, currently the main restorative materials used in the field of oral implants on the market are still mainly imported products, which virtually increases the medical cost of patients. The application and exploration of SIS biomaterials in the field of dental implants has become the main research direction of Biosis Healing and Tianjin Medical University School of Stomatology.

Biosis Healing's SIS biological mesh adopts the porcine small intestine submucosal tissue as a raw material with non-crosslinked process, retains natural biological active substances, with good biocompatibility. The material can endogenously induct regenerative repair and realize tissue function regeneration after being implanted into the body. It can completely degrade in vivo and has the advantages of tolerating infection and preventing adhesion. preventing tissue adhesion and resistance to infection, after implantation in the body, it can take the initiative induce tissue regeneration, and complete degradation as the tissue regeneration. It has been widely used in abdominal wall surgery, anorectal surgery and neurosurgery. Data from completed animal experiments and clinical experiments confirmed that SIS oral repair mesh are particularly effective in repairing oral implant wounds, resection and repair of maxillary tumors, periodontal tissue repair, and intraoral mucosal wound repair.

The research is based on SIS biological mesh, a fusion peptide with pro-healing peptide HST1 or antibacterial osteogenic peptide JH8194 was constructed by using collagen-targeting peptide TKKTLRT and KELNLVY sequences, which realized the rapid and efficient multi-functional modification of SIS mesh. Modified mesh (PSIS) enhances the antibacterial, osteogenic and healing capabilities of SIS mesh, and further enhances the versatility of SIS materials. This study provides a reliable theoretical basis for the application of Biosis Healing-SIS biomaterials in guiding bone regeneration and oral soft tissue repair. And even more to look forward to is that Biosis Healing SIS oral repair mesh products have entered the registration and approval stage, and are expected to be marketed and applied in clinical practice as soon as possible, breaking the import monopoly in the domestic dental implant market.


At present, based on SIS material technology, Biosis Healing has led the development of more than 10 in vivo implant products based on clinical needs. SIS materials hernia graft, anal fistula plug and dura repair mesh have obtained the China National Medical Products Administration Class III medical device registration certificate, and have been marketed and widely used in clinical practice, which allows patients to use the biological products of SIS materials produced by Chinese, and greatly reduces the surgical expenses of patients. In addition, Biosis Healing anastomotic reinforcement mesh, oral repair mesh and other SIS biomaterial products will be also obtained the certificates soon. In February 2021, Biosis Healing hernia graft product received the EU CE certificate of the first animal origin mesh product in China. In May 2021, the first order in Europe was officially launched in the European market, realizing clinical application in European hospitals. This marks that China's SIS material biological mesh has stood on the international stage, with the strength to compete with international brands.
