On Nov. 19, Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Award Studio announced the nominations for the 2020 Beijing Science and Technology Award, according to the website of the Beijing Municipal Science&Technology Commission. A total of 31 people have been nominated for the Zhongguancun Award for Outstanding Contribution, the highest award for science and technology in Beijing, according to the public list of nominations.
The Zhongguancun Award for Outstanding Contribution was established in 2019, it aims to reward the individuals who have made significant discoveries in scientific research, promoted scientific development and social progress, or made major breakthroughs in the research and development of key core technologies, and created huge economic and social benefits or ecological environmental benefits. It is the highest award of science and technology in Beijing.
A total of 31 people were nominated for the Zhongguancun Award for Outstanding Contributions. Among them, we are very familiar with many scientists in the field of anti-epidemic, such as Chen Wei, the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, who was awarded the "people's hero" national honorary title because of the outstanding contribution in anti-epidemic; Cheng Jing, the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, who developed novel coronavirus nucleic acid detection biological chip, etc.; There are also scientists in the fields of computer and artificial intelligence, such as Huang Tiejun, a professor at Peking University and president of the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence, who has set up a new research and development institute to tackle artificial intelligence; and Chen Yunji, a researcher at the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who has developed the world's first dedicated processor chip for deep learning. To be nominated alongside such a high-achieving scientist, Zhao Bo said: " It's the greatest honor."
