At the end of 2021, Biosis Healing SIS biomaterials research delivers another success.
Composites Part B, an international high-impact journal in the field of composite materials, titled "Asymmetric SIS Membranes Specifically Loaded with Exosomes through the Modification of Engineered Recombinant Peptides for Guide Bone Regeneration", published the full text in Biosis Healing's independent intellectual property research results in the field of SIS biomaterials.
The journal has an impact factor of 9.229, and is currently the Double Winners journal of impact factor and article acceptance in the field of composite materials.
This research was completed by the team of Prof. Zhao Bo and Dr. Wei Pengfei from Biosis Healing, the team of Prof. Deng Jiayin and Dr. Liu Zihao from School and Hospital of Stomatology Tianjin Medical University, and the team of Dr. Ma Shiqing from the Second Hospital of Tianjin Medical University. The main research object is SIS biomaterials with independent intellectual property rights of Biosis Healing.
Biosis Healing SIS biomaterial is an excellent extracellular matrix material, which is widely used in skin, angiocarpy, abdominal wall, cartilage defects and other damaged tissues repair due to its low immunogenicity, excellent mechanical properties and tissue regeneration ability, and the repair effect is remarkable.
Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) technology is one of the most commonly used methods for repairing bone defects. Barrier membranes play a crucial role in the application of GBR technology, eliminating interference from non-osteogenic tissues during bone healing, and at the same time for Bone regeneration provides a favorable environment.

In this study, the researchers modified the SIS material membrane by introducing preparation technology, developed an asymmetric SIS membrane using a liquid nitrogen quencher, and modified the SIS membrane with exosomes through peptides.
Subsequently, a series of in vivo and in vitro experiments demonstrated that asymmetric SIS membranes modified with peptides and exosomes could effectively reconstruct bone defects within 12 weeks. It provides a detailed theoretical basis for SIS membrane as a promising GBR membrane for repairing bone defects.
