On October 16, 2019, “Seminar on Multi-disciplinary Application of SIS Biomaterials in Clinical Surgery”, hosted by Beijing Biosis Healing Biological Technology Co., Ltd., was ceremoniously held in Jing’an Shangri-La Hotel, Shanghai, China. Meanwhile the Shanghai Office of Beijing Biosis Healing Biological Technology Co., Ltd. was officially inaugurated. Chairman Zhao Bo, CEO Li Xuejun, Vice President in marketing Wang Lei, met dozens of experts and professors from reputed Grade III Level A hospitals, media friends and partners. They shared their expertise and suggestions to solve the common key issues in technological and clinical biomedicine, aiming at promoting the clinical application of new technologies and products with China’ own intellectual property rights, accelerating the transformation in bio-materials from domination by import to “Intelligently Made in China”, and realizing substitution for imported products.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Li Xuejun, CEO of Beijing Biosis Healing Biological Technology Co., Ltd. delivered a speech. He said that the establishment of Biosis Healing’s Shanghai Office is not only a scale expansion for the enterprise, but also an important step toward accelerating Biosis Healing’s strategic upgrading. As a world-class financial center, Shanghai possesses abundant resources and rare advantages. He added that, based in Shanghai and with a global perspective, Biosis Healing will work with all its colleagues in the field of surgical medicine to contribute to the common development and progress of the global surgical profession.
Wu Chuanqing, from General Gastrointestinal Surgery of Union Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, introduced the application of biological anastomosis reinforcement patch of SIS materials in clinical gastrointestinal surgery.
Tang Jianxiong, Director of the Major Surgery of Huadong Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, made a report on How to Comprehensively Consider the Material Selection in Abdominal Wall Restoration Surgery.
Yang Jianrong, President of Stomatological Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University, made a report on the application of oral protective wound membrane of SIS biological materials in oral surgery. President Yang pointed out that, the clinical research on the products of oral protective wound membrane produced by Biosis Healing shows, through comparison of the success rate of different recovery cycles after surgery, it is proved that the products of oral protective wound membrane produced by Biosis Healing, having fulfilled the standards in safety and effectiveness, are as good as the similar products that are already produced and in use. The products of oral protective wound membrane produced by Biosis Healing have reached the standard of clinical use.
Zheng Yi, Chief Physician of General Surgery of Beijing Chaoyang Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University, made a report on the application of anal plug of SIS biological materials in clinical anorectal surgery. Professor Zheng said the clinical results showed that the test samples of anal plug produced by Biosis Healing were safe and effective in clinical use.
Xia Leilei, Director in R&D of Biosis Healing, introduced the application of SIS biological patch in clinical restoration of eardrum and rotator cuff. Dr. Xia analyzed the advantages of the rotator cuff materials currently in use, including the synthetic, acellular, allogeneic and autologous patch materials, and said that Biosis Healing’s non-crosslinked extracellular matrix sources are filling the vacuum.
Chairman Zhao Bo shared the development history of the enterprise with the experts present. Since its establishment seven years ago, Biosis Healing has obtained more than 100 domestic invention patents and 19 foreign invention patents. Its core processes and products have obtained patent authorization in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan. The enterprise has been awarded National New High-Tech Enterprise, Post-Doctoral Research Station, Beijing Province-level Sci-tech Research and Development Organization, Zhongguancun High-Tech Enterprise, and Vice- Chairmanship of the Chamber of Medical Equipment Commerce, China Federation of Industry and Commerce. The enterprise has undertaken a number of provincial and ministerial projects, and won multiple honors such as “Top 100 Enterprises with the Potential to be listed in the Science and Technology Innovation Board” and “Top 50 enterprises of most investment values in China for 2018”.
Chairman Zhao introduced that Biosis Healing has already established multiple technology platforms, namely non-crosslinked extracellular matrix source material (SIS), high viscosity and high tensile degradable tissue adhesive, degradable and absorbable synthetic polymer materials, precision surgical instruments, intelligent surgical instruments etc. The enterprise provides comprehensive and advanced solutions for tissue restoration and minimally invasive surgery through independent innovation. Among them, the non-crosslinked extracellular matrix source materials (SIS materials) with independent intellectual property rights produced by Biosis Healing have been listed in the 863 Key Special Project in New Materials in the 12th Five-Year Plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and the China Zhongguancun significant/frontier/original technology commercialization/industrialization projects. Biosis Healing has become the second enterprise in the world that possesses this material technology and a full range of tissue restoration products.
